i think there will be a halo 4 because if you have finished halo 3 on legendary difficulty there are loads of clues ;-)

Halo 4 is going to be released early 2012 and is being developed by 343 (Halo Legends, Halo Wars) so it will probably not be as good as the earlier games in the series.
